Still Life
My grandmother was a major part of my life and that of my siblings after our father died. We children were young and our mother had to work full time to support us. During those early years, my grandmother filled a need in us and instilled a sense of semi-normalcy as we went to her house after school until our mother returned from work.
As a collector of things she cherished, we were exposed to the finer objects that were part of our grandmother's house decor. After she died, her collections were distributed amongst her grandchildren and we cherish them as a remembrance of her kindness and love for us.
Painting these beloved objects along with items we have accumulated over the years has given me fond memories of the past. As you observe the paintings, may you recollect fond memories of your own family's collectibles and the ancestors that cherished them.
